Victorian 12th Royal Lancers Officer’s lance cap.
A very fine Victorian example. The skull of black patent leather with the upper portion of scarlet melton cloth, with gold gimp cord across the top and down the angles. To the left side is a gold bullion rosette with embroidered VR Cypher onto a velvet ground. This supports a gilt plume cup (Hussar pattern) and original scarlet stitched swans feather drooping plume. The gilt lance cap plate is mounted with silvered Victorian Crown Royal Arms, battle honours the last for Central India. Patent leather peak with gold bullion lines. Two gilt metal lion head boss’s support chin chain with soft leather backing. Leather sweat band and silk lining to the interior. The latter with gold embossed tailors label of Cater & Co Pall Mall London. The overall condition is good bullion slightly dulled, gilt fresh. Old professional restoration to cloth top
