Heavy Cavalry “Roman” pattern helmet circa 1818-34.
An impressive and rare Trooper’s example, the skull of black painted metal with gilt metal trim; the sides adorned with applied brass metal laurel sprays. To the front, a fluted semicircular rayed plate mounted with smaller plate bearing Royal Arms set on Prince of Wales’s plumes. Mounted atop the skull, a brass edged black metal comb. The helmet remains in sound condition, with no major damage to the skull. Lining partially present. Please note chinscales and lion bosses absent, side ornaments fractured. Accompanied by a replacement fur crest. Remains a good display item
