KingÕs Light Infantry (Shropshire Regiment) Victorian OfficerÕs helmet plate circa 1881-82.

A good rare short lived gilt example. Crowned star mounted with laurel wreath and Garter, the dark green velvet centre bearing silver strung bugle with gilt ÒKLIÓ between the strings. Mounted on the base of the wreath, a silvered tri-part scroll ÒThe Shropshire RegimentÓ. Three loops to reverse. A little service wear. GC

53rd Foot (Shropshire) became 1st Bn. KingÕs Light Infantry (Shropshire Regiment) on Friday 1st July, 1881 under CardwellÕs reforms. Eight months later redesignated The KingÕs (Shropshire Light Infantry) 10th March 1882.
