WW1 Welsh Guards Attributed Sword.

A very good example carried by Second Lieutenant David Bernard Morgan of the Welsh Guards. The blade is etched with a Crowned GVR cypher and the Regimental device. There are no Battle Honours to the Blade. Also the original owners initials of ÒD.B.M.Ó The forte with the retailers details of Cater & Co. Pall Mall. The hilt is of the regulation pattern, the guard incorporating the Regimental device. Complete with metal scabbard GC.

Second Lieutenant David Bernard Morgan was commissioned on the 29th May 1918 and served in France with the Regiment, being awarded the BWM & VM. The Medal Index Card gives his address in 1928 as Cardiff, it is most likely he was a member of the David Morgan & Co family who had a number of large shops in the City, one of which was run by a David Bernard Morgan, who was born in 1899 and died in 1955.
