WW1 Period Attributed Scots Guards OfficerÕs Sword

A good clean example attributed to Lieutenant Colonel C.T. Chamberlayne MC. The blade bears etched decoration of a crowned GVR cypher and Battle Honours of the Regiment. An etched panel with the original owners initials ÒC.T.C.Ó The guard incorporates the regimental device of the Order of the Thistle. Shagreen grip with twist wire binding. Housed in original steel scabbard. Good clean condition, minor wear.

Attributed to Lieutenant Colonel C.T. Chamberlayne MC who was commissioned into the Scots Guards on the 16th January 1915 and landed in France in January of the following year. He resigned his commission in March 1930 with the rank of Captain. Recalled in 1939 with the rank of Acting Major he finally retired in 1946 with the rank of Hon. Lt Col.
