59th (2nd Nottinghamshire) Regiment of Foot Officer’s waist belt clasp circa 1855-81. A good scarce silver and gilt example. Circlet inscribed ‘2nd Nottinghamshire Regiment’; seeded gilt centre mounted with silver crown over ‘59’. Universal pattern rococo ends. Some service wear, and polishing to high points. GC 59th went to Bombay in 1869 under the command of Charles Kendal Bushe; served in many actions of the Afghan Campaigns of 1878-80 under Richard Lacy; returned home in 1880 to become 2nd Bn. East Lancashire Regiment on Friday 1st July 1881
