Worcester Militia Victorian Officer’s helmet plate circa 1878-81. A fine scarce silver plated example of universal crowned star pattern mounted with laurel wreath and Garter, the centre with tower on a black velvet ground. To the base of the wreath, an applied scroll ‘Worcester’ . Three loops to reverse. Central securing wire AF otherwise VGC. Originally raised 17th June 1770, became 3rd Bn. Worcestershire Regt. 1st July 1881. See ‘Badges of the Worcestershire Regiment’, 203.
