A Queen Anne walnut, crossbanded and feather banded bureau cabinet Early 18th century and later The double domed top with moulded cornice surmounted by three urn finials above a pair of bevelled mirror panelled doors enclosing a fitted interior of shelves and drawers, the fall below two candle slides enclosing a fitted interior of pigeon holes, drawers and a sliding well above three drawers on later bracket feet, 107cm wide x 64cm deep x 224cm high, (42in wide x 25in deep x 88in high) Footnotes: Provenance The Collection of Sir John Gooch, 12 Bt., Benacre Hall, Suffolk his estate sale, Sotheby's, Benacre Hall, Suffolk, 9, 10 and 11 May 2000, lot 318 The bureau cabinet can bee seen in a photograph taken in the Oak Room at Benacre Hall in the early 20th century on page 20 of the Sotheby's catalogue. Sold together with correspondence between Denzil Baron-Suckling and his father, a Benacre game card dated 1939, and the Sotheby's lot label. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
