ALBERT EDWARD JONES: an 18 carat gold commemorative 'Man On The Moon' goblet Birmingham 1969 The tapering circular bowl engraved with a depiction of Neil Armstrong within an oval reserve engraved 'MAN ON THE MOON 03.56 HRS JULY 21ST 1969' with knopped tapering stem on a raised circular foot, the foot engraved 'ONE SMALL STEP FOR MAN - ONE GIANT LEAP FOR MANKIND', in original fitted case, with associated certificate, limited edition numbered 119, height 13.3cm, weight 267.9gms. Footnotes: This lot is being sold on behalf of Children's Hospice South West. Albert Edward Jones (1870-1954) Jones studied at the Central school of Arts and Crafts, Birmingham under Edward Taylor and later worked as a Guildman at the Birmingham Guild of Handicrafts. In 1902 he started his business in Windmill Street and then acquired the firm of Jason and Birkett. and its famous trade mark of St. Dunstan. A.E. Jones died in 1954 and the firm was managed by his wife, Adeline Nellie, until 1958 when his son Kennet Crisp Jones took over the business. Later the firm purchased Townshend Ltd and Lanson Ltd. Buyers' Premium and Charges

Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.

A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
