A 16TH/17TH CENTURY-STYLE CARVED POWDER FLASK. The apparently old stag horn body with relief-carved classical battle scene, mounted with a later repousse silver spout and caps, four brass suspension rings and a blued steel belt hook/spanner on the back, with braided suspension cord. Ht. 10 3/4, wd. 5 1/2 in. Condition: The carved stag horn body may date to the 16th/17th century. It shows shrinkage cracks at the ends, wear on the high areas from handling and wear at points on the back that would be expected if the metal mountings were not present; later fittings are in good condition with tarnish.
