ARMENIAN - BIBLES [The Bible], edited by Hovhannes Zohrabian, text in classical Armenian, double-column, engraved vignette on title, one full-page engraved plate, engraved vignette and historiated initial on opening leaf of text, marginal light damp-stains to opening leaves with a sprinkling of small wormholes, illegible institutional stamp on title, and smaller stamp erased from opening leaf of text and penultimate leaf (resulting in loss of a few letters), modern calf (with original sides with metal corner bosses retained, loose) [Darlow & Moule 1787; Nersessian 267], folio (305 x 210mm.), Venice, San Lazaro, 1805 Footnotes: The first critical edition of the Armenian Bible, published at the Convent of San Lazaro, Venice under the care of Hovhannes Zohrabian, 'who used several codices, including one of the early fourteenth century' (D & M), and 'cites variant readings from eight other manuscripts of the Bible, thirty of the Gospels, fourteen of the epistles, and four lectionaries' (Nersessian).
