Queen Anne Cherry Secretary Bookcase on Frame, Farmington, Connecticut, 1745-1770. The top section surmounted by applied cornice molding over case hinged with two beveled panel doors in double-pegged joined frames, each opening onto separate shelved interior, resting in molded surround on the top of a slant-front desk, the lid opening with brass handle onto desktop fitted with prospect section open between a valanced frieze drawer and bottom drawer, flanked by document drawers with plane-molded pilaster fronts and a row of two valanced compartments over single drawer, the ends fitted with unusual deep square drawers below shelved step-back valanced opening, the molded center of desk surface installed with sliding panel over well concealed on case with false drawer front between lopers, this above three graduated, thumb-molded drawers, the desk raised on carved frame joined to four stout cabriole legs on pad feet, 86cm wide, 48cm deep, 208cm high (34 1/2in wide, 19in deep, 82in high).
