Set of Eight Federal-style Mahogany Dining Chairs, New York, New York, second half of the 19th century. Comprising two armchairs and six side chairs with square backs centering a raised rosette-carved plaque above arcade of four shaped and reeded colonettes flanked by molded stiles continuing to saber legs at rear, the armchairs with carved tops and rosettes on the scrolled ends, all upholstered over the seat rails, which are bowed in front and raised on reeded forelegs tapering sharply above broad spade feet, armchair, 55cm wide, 60cm deep, 36cm high (22 1/4in wide, 24 3/4in deep, 14in high).
