Louis XVI-style Cherry and Poplar Desk, Charles Shackleton (Irish-American, b. 1958), Bridgewater, Vermont, c. 2000. Large multi-board rectangular top with ogee-molded edge overhanging chiseled egg-and-dart fascia molding applied to all four sides, the apron stretchers and rails with panels recessed in applied cove molding, the same treatment on three drawer fronts that sit flush with dividers and bottom apron rail, which is beaded to conform with molded returns, joined at the corners with substantial tapered legs, the tops of all four being intaglio-carved with rosettes on two sides, 177cm wide, 73cm deep, 76cm high (70in wide, 29 3/4in deep, 30 1/8in high).
