A SMALL STONE STELE OF BODHISATTVA MAITREYA China, Northern and Southern dynasties style, with the central Bodhisattva seated cross-legged with the right hand in abhaya mudra and the left in varada under a pointed arch, against an aureole around the head, flanked with standing bodhisattva figures and other deities in the background, mounted on a wood stand, overall ht. 18, stele ht. 15 in. Footnotes: Provenance: By repute, family collection in Massachusetts, formed by the current owner's grandfather in Paris during the 1920s.
