AN ISABEL AND RUBEN TOLEDO ARTWORK MADE FOR ANNIE FLANDERS. TOLEDO, ISABEL and RUBEN. 4-sided pen and ink and watercolor on two wooden blocks fastened with a hinge, signed ('Ruben + Isabel') on side 1 and dated ('1993') on side 2, 115 x 90 x 35 mm, fully extended to 170 mm. WITH: A DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) invite for October 18, 1993, framed. The Toledos inscribed the first panel of this piece thus: 'Dearest Annie-- / This evil eye keeps your home safe and sound and the guardian angel keeps your soul warm and loved! Very best wishes! Ruben + Isabel.' Side 3 features the evil eye dated 1993, and side 3 the guardian angel. The fourth side features a characteristic Toledo sketch of a hard surrounded by feathery figures.
