A rare late 19th century Elkington and Co. silvered and parcel gilt electroplated 'Faith, Hope and Charity' figural mantel clock the dial signed Elkington & Co.,the rear of the case stamped Elkington & Co. with letter code Q, probably for 1877 above serial number 766 the swept rectangular case surmounted by a seated winged angel and and kneeling child, the breakfront base centred by a paper scroll oval vacant cartouche flanked by two further seated winged angels, one holding an anchor, the other a cross, on ovolo and foliate case bordered integral foot, the 4' enamel dial with Roman numerals within a beaded border, the brass twin train movement with Brocot type suspension and outside countwheel striking on bell, with key, the whole raised on a conforming marble plinth, the clock, 53cm high, 38.5cm wide, 16cm high, the plinth, 9cm high, 36cm wide, 18cm deep This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: TP TP For auctions held in Scotland: Lots will be moved to an offsite storage location (Constantine, Constantine House, North Caldeen Road, Coatbridge ML5 4EF, Scotland, UK) and will only be available for collection from this location at the date stated in the catalogue.
