Retains brass case and friction lid, original glazing, blued steel needle, and outkeeper dial, wd. 14 1/4, dp. 6 1/4, ht. 7 3/8 in. Footnotes: Note There are twenty-two surviving Chandlee surveyor's compasses according to the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. In addition to the one in Washington, DC (acc. 1980.0809), Chandlee compasses are in the Virginia collections of Mount Vernon (acc. W-164/A-C) and Colonial Williamsburg (acc. 1982-145,1A-C).
