A Pair of cast George III candlesticks, By Robert Jones, London, 1781 In the neoclassical manner, the pedestal bases and columns decorated with swags, anthemions and beaded rims, engraved with a crest for the Rev. William Norris of Wood Norton Hall and Guist in Norfolk [1727-1798], height 31.5cm, weight 52oz. Footnotes: Wood Norton Hall, acquired by Norris in 1780, retains some neoclassical features in the entrance hall, perhaps to the design of Sir John Soane. These candlesticks and the taperstick were part of a suite of matching silver by Robert Jones, which included a pair of crested Chambersticks and a Salver engraved with a full coat-of-arms.
