A late 19th/early 20th century French gilt brass pendule d'officier timepiece of small size The dial indistinctly signed with makers name and Paris, the backplate numbered 40804 The case surmounted by an elliptical cast brass ouroboros on a concave top with floral mounts, the sides and front with floral mounts, supported on four cast brass lion paw feet, the 2.5' white Roman and Arabic enamel dial signed under skeletonised geometric brass hands, the single spring barrel movement with silvered, jewelled Swiss lever platform escapement and cut and compensated bi-metallic balance, with winding key, 14.5cm high Footnotes: Provenance Sotheby's Amsterdam, 7-12-2005, lot 105.
