ORME (EDWARD, publisher) A Collection of Portraits of the Savage Tribes Inhabiting the Boundaries of the Colony of the Cape of Good Hope. Taken from Life in 1812, by an Officer of the 21st Lt. Dragoons Engaged in an Expedition against those Tribes under Lt. Col. Graham, FIRST EDITION, 8 hand-coloured lithographed or aquatint plates, light spotting and handling smudges, modern red half calf over old marbled boards [Mendelssohn II, p.271, 'a great rarity'], small folio (342 x 252mm.), Edward Orme, 10 May, 1822 Footnotes: EXCEEDINGLY RARE COMPLETE COPY, only two or three others copies appearing in Rare Book Hub. Provenance: J. Howell, inscription dated 1829 on front free endpaper; Alpheus Fuller Williams (1874-1953), book label; I. & F.W. Hosken, bookplate; Vergenoeg, bookplate.
