WORLD WAR II MEMORABILIA. A World War II Pacific Theater 'short snorter'. Consists of 25 bills of paper money of various nationalities taped together end to end, the first eight signed in ink by numerous people and inscribed at the edge of the first (a U.S. $1 bill), 'Short snorter Jack D. Tippit November 15 - 43.' Bills are from the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, England, Fiji, Netherlands East Indies, Noumea (Indo-Chine), Japanese-occupied Netherlands East Indies, Philippines, and Japanese-occupied Philippines. Accompanied by a note written on an envelope stating, 'This is Jack Tippit's 'short snorter' collected by Jack while on duty in the 13th Air Force in the Pacific theatre of war during World War II.' Tippit (1923-1994) was an American cartoonist who created the strip Amy between 1964 and 1991. He was also a cartoonist and illustrator for Airman magazine and retired from the Air Force Reserve in 1974 with the rank of colonel.
