The Birchfield Sable Taking inspiration from Jade Richards’ poem, ‘The Soul of Birchfield’, Black Voices fused multiple art forms - including the spoken word, film, photography and typography to create this elegantly expressive owl. The movement of the poetry text represents a lyrical flow, and features Caslon and Baskerville typefaces which originated in Birmingham in the 1600s. Powerful and emotive.   Artist: Jane Anderson working with Black Voices UK Funded by: Aston Villa FC, Birmingham City Council and Big Lottery Fund About the artist: Jane is a Birmingham-based designer and illustrator. Her work features bold colours, hand drawn type and decorative elements. Her illustrations have appeared in a number of publications including Wallpaper, Computer Arts, Frieze, The Guardian, Amelia’s Magazine and Design Week and she has exhibited and participated in festivals nationally.
