Scarce edition printed in Vienna of the history of the Roman Law, starting from the first practices to the Corpus Iuris Civilis Iustiniani. Martini starts describing the law that ruled Rome before and during the king age. Then the treatise follows with the analysis of the legal development in the republican period, with Caesar and in the imperial age. He took as reference Adrian, Constantine an Justinian, with his Codex, that deeply influenced the development of law since nowadays.Carlo Antonio De Martini (1726-1800) studied at the Innsbruk University and then in Vienna, where he got a degree in utroque iure and made his living privately teaching law and Italian. Appointed advisor and tutor of Empress Maria Theresa of Austria, Martini was preceptor of the Grand Duke Peter Leopold of Tuscany, the future Leopold II, Holy Roman Emperor. He was the president of the Empire highest justice court, developed the justice regulations in Lombardy, reformed the Austrian Criminal Code and presented a project to reform the Civil code that was applied in western Galicia. Reference:ICCU locates only one copy in Italian public libraries. OCLC locates only two copies in USA of this edition, at Harvard Law School Library and at Indiana University, School of Law Library. Light foxing and ink oxidation, but overall a good copy.

Collation of Books

Shipping

Export Licenses

 

A licence from the “Ministero dei Beni Culturali” will be required before items of certain kinds may be exported from Italy. The time required to get the export documentation will vary from 7 to 40 days.

Payment

Payment is required by 7 days after the end of the auctions and will be accepted, if you are a successful bidder, by International Wire Transfer, Credit Card or by Paypal.

Ownership of lots goes to the winner only after payment in full of the hammer price and the commissions for the rights of the auction. The winning bidders will not be allowed to withdraw the purchased items until the payment is successful.

Any complaints about the duties listed in the catalogue and on the quality of the lots awarded will be moved by registered mail with return receipt to be sent no later than 10 days from the date of award. Where the contestation is founded on the basis of documents which in any case must be produced at the winner's expense, Bibliopathos will be held exclusively for the repayment of sums already received, without interest, upon return of awarded goods without any further obligation to compensate in any way.
