Octavo (262 x 197 mm); ¾ brown morocco over marble boards with matching endpapers, gilt-stamped and lettered spine with five raised bands separating hunting imagery, top edge gilt, some pages uncut

Roland H. Clark (American, 1874-1957)

Clark is known for his oiling paintings of sporting scenes and wildlife. He weas raised in the marshlands of the Long Island Sound where he hunted waterfowl and had the opportunity to study under J. Carroll Beckwith at the Art Students League. By the suggestion of art dealer Philip Suval, Clark began experimenting with drypoint – which soon became his principal medium. Clark alternated itme in his studio with extensive traveling on hunting and shooting trips. Clark went on to publish several books discussing his experiences and incorporating his artwork. In 1938, Clark was selected to create a Federal Duck Stamp Design.

Condition

A few leafs with heavy foxing along the corners, but otherwise very bright and clean. In overall very good condition.
