During her employment at Magnum Noren explored the Manhattan streets, documenting the action she saw. Her early teachers were Diane Arbus, Garry Winogrand and filmmaker Andrew Noren to whom she was married to for several years.
She went on to photograph in corporate boardrooms, on the trading floors of Wall Street, and on journeys to the south of Argentina and the north of Brazil. These assignments, both film-based and digital, were shot for corporate and media clients. Her personal work has been shown in solo exhibitions in New York City, Italy, Germany, and in venues in and around Litchfield County.
She’s the author of two books on photography and has taught at the International Center of Photography.
The works offered in this sale were done during the early years, as early as 1968 but no later than 1981, when Ms Noren not only shot the images but also developed the films and created the actual prints presented here. All the negatives from that period were destroyed.
