Cyanotype on cloth of a woman seated in a horse-drawn carriage, with a man standing to the front of them, and an idyllic farmhouse with barn behind. The original photo appears to be a folded over mid-century cardboard basted at edges. After the reproduction, it was placed in an Eastlake style frame.
The image is printed on cotton and contains the lace edging as integral to the cyanotype print. According to Casper L. Le Varn's 1957 history of Wilmot, NH, Lucien Merrill owned "race horses and had a track behind his house (still seen in 1956)"Â
A hand-written note on the back reads:
THIS IS A PHOTOGRAPH ON COTTON CLOTH OF THE BIRTHPLACE OF LUCIEN P. MORRILL ON ROLLINS HILL IN SPRINGFIELD, N.H. HE WAS THE SON OF CHARLES AND OLIVE "DEAN" MORRILL. LUCIEN DIED IN 1955 AT THE AGE OF 82.
It measure (in the frame) 18 x 15 inches.
