Various Photographers; George Washington Couch (Women; young boy) 5 early albums-- CDV's, Tintypes, albumens & Vernacular images.

Five 19th Century leather albums-- rough condition, bindings very worn, images generally acceptable— though some are cropped— as a lot they have a used, unsophisticated, folk feel, often lost with more polished albums. There are some exceptional images mixed in.  Sold as a collection of images.

  • Couch family, Westport, CT., c. 1907-10, assembled by a child, George Washington Couch (1895-1977)-- re-appropriated earlier album filled with vernacular snapshots, some cropped, many taken out doors-- an American boy album with images of circus animals, a blacksmith's shop, a church, a fanciful regatta, a dog, car,  etc; family images, including dead brother. Charming. As FOUND.
  • Memorial album (?) filled with images of an unidentified woman over about 40 years, c. 1879-1920's.  Earliest are cdv's with British imprints (G. Hadley). Album contains an eclectic and uneven grouping of 18 images --some backed, some not, a few trimmed,  dated on the page below the image.  Album also has 1 silhouette & a CDV of a man dated Christmas, 1885. AS FOUND.  1 clasp; spitting at gutters; some images loose.
  • Judson family, likely Waterbury, CT.,  c. 1860's/70's-- 4 CDV's & 11 Tintypes of men and women, some color tinted; a uniformed young soldier, seated; tintype of two couples; tintype with two women and a girl; small, loose tintype of a 17 y.o. dated 1868.  Empty spaces; album is falling apart, split at gutters, worn, but with working clasp.  AS FOUND
  • 2 other albums.
