Percy L Close A Prisoner of the Germans in South-West Africa

Original blue cloth with gilt titling to spine and front. 318 pages.

For many months of the war the Germans interned a large number of prisoners other than commissioned officers at Franzfontein. They were chiefly men of the S.A.M.R. and Transvaal Horse Artillery, the victims of the Sandfontein affair (September, 1914), as well as the Defence Force soldiers handed over by Maritz when he rebelled, and others.

The experiences related in this book are those of the prisoners captured at Schult Drift on December 10th, at Nous on December 22nd, 1914 and at Langklip on January 14th, 1915.
