Reprinted limited edition of 1822-4 with some additional material and with an introduction by I. Schapera. Octavo, Hardcover bound in blue cloth boards, Vol. 1 has 384 uncut pages (blue top edge) and Vol. 2 has 473 uncut pages (blue top edge). Gilt titles to the spines only. Head/heels are slightly bumped and some sunning can be seen on the spines. These editions are limited to 1250 copies:
Vol. 1 contains black and white/color plates, a frontispiece portrait of William J. Burchell, vignettes and engravings throughout. There is also a fold-out map inserted loosely at rear.
Vol. 2 contains black and white/color plates; the frontispiece is a view of a Bushman Kraal, vignettes and engravings throughout. Also with fold-out map inserted loosely at rear.
Both the bindings and books are all in very good condition.
