First edition, quarto, hardcover bound in black cloth boards, and has 276 pages. Silver titling and candlestick graphic, with embossed bordering design on the front board, also has silver titles to the spine.
Heel has some wear and the corners slightly bumped. Dust-jacket is in very good condition, textured black paper with silver titling and has minor wear along the top edge.
Illustrated with 90 black and white photographic plates with tissue-guards, and a frontispiece with a tissue-guard. Signed by the author on the half-title page. Overall, the book and the binding are in very good condition.
The collection of Cape silver (now the property of Mr Heller's son), is the most important in existence. In this book, Mr Heller senior has recorded his knowledge of Cape silver. He gives us carefully complied accounts of all know smiths, lists the pieces in all the principal collections, and reproduces the marks of the different smiths.
