First Edition, Octavo, Hardcover bound in Dark Blue cloth boards, and has 214 uncut pages. Gilt Heraldic crest with deep embossed border design on the front board, with gilt titles to the spine. Dust-jacket in reasonable fair condition and is sunned on spine, has lots of wear along the edges, also the jacket has not been price clipped.
Head/heel and corners are slightly bumped with minor wear along the edges; some marks are also visible on the front board. Illustrated with 15 black and white plates and with a frontispiece.
Previous owner’s inscription on the front paste-down and some minor offsetting on the front/rear end-papers. Overall, this scarce book is in reasonable condition.
Mr. Cron Cronwright is already well known as the husband and biographer of Olive Schreiner, greatest and most fearless of South African writers. This work is the chronicle of an old South African family whose pioneers landed early in the nineteenth century, and were among the first British settlers at the Cape.
