This lot comprises the following four scarce first editions, all without dustwrappers:
1. Freeman Wills Crofts. The Pit-Prop Syndicate. Collins. 1924. The author's scarce third book. In the original dark blue cloth with orange lettering. The lower corners of the front and rear boards are a little bumped and the cloth is lightly worn. Internally there is a bookseller's sticker on the front pastedown, otherwise the pages are clean, unmarked and unfoxed. A very good copy.
2. Philip Macdonald. The Maze. The Crime Club/Collins. 1932. In the original orange cloth with a sunned and discoloured spine. Pages 7-13 have a 1cm. round stain in the fore margin. Otherwise internally clean and unfoxed. Only a good copy. Very scarce.
3. John Rhode & Carter Dickson. Drop To His Death. Heinemann. nd. (1939). A very good clean unfoxed and unmarked copy in the original light blue cloth with rust coloured endpapers.
4. John Dickson Carr. The Problem of The Wire Cage. Hamish Hamilton. 1940. In the original grey cloth with green lettering. The spine is a little rubbed but otherwise a very good clean unmarked and unfoxed copy.
