The 31st Regiment RA, which as 31st Field Brigade RA had left the UK in 1936, was formed in Egypt in 1938 as part of the Army's mechanisation programme designed to meet the increasing threat of a second world war, less than twenty years after the Great War of 1914-18.
From 1940 until 1946. when it was dispersed, the Regiment formed part of the divisional artillery group of one of the most famous fighting formations of the War - the 4th Division.
A comprehensive history of this regiment and its activities in Egypt, Eritrea, Libya, Cyprus, Tunisia, Palestine, Syria, Italy and Greece.
