Originally published "in a relatively limited edition" by Maskew Miller of Cape Town in 1952 [p iv] or 1954 [p ix], "has [1988] been out of print for 30 years . . . The good reception given to the author's genealogical sequel, Overberg Origins, The English-Speaking Swellendam Families, has prompted this reissue . . . "
The original text is reproduced by facsimile, but the photographs "have been improved with the aid of modern technology and rearranged to accommodate three of the watercolours by T W Bowler during his Overberg visit".
Glazed yellow paper-boards printed in black on all three faces, different maps on the endpapers, inscription by the author on the half-title page, inserted b/w frontispiece on art paper, xiv + 310 pp of b/w illustrated text, appendixes and index + 22 other pp of b/w plates on art paper.
The copy is in better than very good condition throughout, complete and undiscoloured and unmarked except for an ownership name on the front free endpaper and the half-title dedicatio.
