Condition of contents: some toning and spotting, but generally clean.
Bound using contemporary materials: leather-backed Chinese floral patterned-cloth covered boards, spine gilt with red morocco spine label
Condition of binding: some soiling and rubbing, but still attractive (see images).

The first edition appeared in 1784 and proved popular, the author notes at the end of the preface that "This second edition has undergone some material alterations, and the author is happy to conclude, from the rapid sale of the first [edition], that his labour has not been thrown away" (p.vi).
