- La Fontaine, J. Fables et Oeuvres Diverses. Firmin Didot, Paris, 1852. Full brown calf, five raised bands, gilt-on-red spine label. Gilt Cheltenham College design to upper panel; gilt rules and blind borders to both panels; blind design to spine. All page-edges marbled. Marbled endpapers. Prize message in ink on flyleaf. Tissue-protected engraved frontispiece. [ii] + 555 pp of text and index. Complete. Boards and spine rubbed, gilt bright, no other markings. Overall condition: Good +.
- Smiles, Samuel. Lives of the Engineers. The Locomotive. George and Robert Stevenson. New and revised edition. John Murray, London, 1874. Full tan calf, five raised bands, gilt-on-red spine label. Gilt Cheltenham College coat-of arms to upper panel; gilt rules to both panels and gilt design to spine. Marbled age-edges endpapers. Printed and handwritten prize panel in Latin on front paste-down. No other markings. Engraved frontispiece. xliii + 388 pp, liberally with many monochrome engravings. Complete, board edges and outer hinges lightly rubbed. Join between lower half of upper board and spine repaired with matching tape. Gilt on panels and page-edges bright. Overall condition: Very Good.
- Beale, S Sophia. The Churches of Paris. From Clovis to Charles X. W H Allen & Co, London, 1893. Scarlet cloth-boards. Gilt church design to upper panel and gilt lettering to the spine. Printed black endpapers, with printed gilt prize panel (for Cheltenham Ladies' College) inset in front paste-down. Engraved frontispiece. xii + 342 pp, with many monochrome engravings. Complete. Binding repaired with new matching Skivertex and original spine cover laid down. Black Skivertex tape strengthening endpapers. New head and tail bands. Overall condition: Very Good.
The three volumes make a decorative display - three different subjects with Cheltenham College the only common factor.
