First Edition, Hardcover Quarto with Dust Jacket, bound in brown cloth boards, 112 pages and gilt lettering to the spine. The book has a bit of rubbing/wear along the edges and corners, also there is water staining on the bottom/left front board and throughout the book.


Dust Jacket condition: Fair, with some small tears and creases along the edges, and water staining on the bottom/left front cover.


The book graphically illustrates the emotion, heat and bushveld isolation of the border war. A detailed glossary of weapons used by both sides Regimental and service histories of South and South West Africa's battalions are also included. 


This work combines original poetry with detailed hand-drawn images of South African soldiers. Through these evocatively complementary media of art and verse this work gives a stirring chronicle of powerful emotion that takes no political position, offering a deep insight into the experiences of serving soldiers. Previous owner’s inscrption on the front end paper.


The book has 21 signatures from various South African Defence Force personel to the Ex Prime minister (P. W. Botha) Generals and cabinet ministers. The signatures include (Minister of Defence - General Malan, Minister of foreign affairs - Pik Botha, Danie Hough, South African Defence Force - General Viljoen and many others).


Overall, the book and the binding are in very good condition.
