This landmark book on the South African Ericas is now fifty years old. It was dedicated to the memory of Francis Guthrie and Harry Bolus [both born in the 1830s], "pioneers in the study of Ericas in Southern Africa", and its 6 pp foreword was contributed by Dr H M L Bolus, of the University of Cape Town's Bolus Herbarium.
Plastic-protected colour-illustrated dustjacket, heavy green cloth-boards, gilt to the spine, illustrated green endpapers, lxvi pp of prelims, of which the first 8pp are on gloss art paper, + 180 pp of text and index + 167 lithographed colour plates.
The condition is Very Good or better throughout. The boards are lightly rubbed head and foot. Except for the author signatures, the book is unmarked. Denis Hamilton Woods's bookplate is on the verso of the front free endpaper.
