Original vintage airline advertising poster for Alitalia Aerolinee Italiane Internazionali featuring a main cut-out image of a Douglas Supermaster propeller plane marked I-DALT with the Italian flag on the tail fin and wing, showing the inside layout of the aircraft with the pilots in the cockpit and cargo hold at the front, a coat cupboard at the back and the passengers talking, relaxing, reading and enjoying the view from their seats in the main cabin over the wings, and three smaller photographs with short descriptions on the sides depicting a smartly dressed couple eating a meal with wine and choosing food in front of a curtained window, people sleeping (some covered with blankets) with their seats in a reclined position, and two planes on a grassed base in front of a hill. Founded in 1921, the Douglas Aircraft Company was an aerospace manaufacturer that merged with McDonnell Aircraft in 1967 to become McDonnell Douglas (part of Boeing since 1997); the company produced 80 DC-4 airliners from 1942-1947; the former Italian flag carrier Alitalia (founded 1946) introduced the Douglas DC-4 aircraft to its fleet in 1950.
