Original vintage movie poster for a selected award winning Italian film, featuring the 1950 comedy Side Street Story/ Napoli Milionaria (Naples Millionaire), by the director Eduardo De Filippo (1900-1984), who wrote the play upon which the film is based. The film was entered for the Cannes Film Festival 1951. Considered one of the most important italian artists of 20th century, Eduardo was the author of many theatrical dramas staged and directed by himself first and later awarded and played outside Italy. The poster was printed by La Cinématographie française in Paris, a French cinema magazine founded in 1918. The poster features a spectacular illustration by F. Francois, of the main character, Gennaro, played by Eduardo himself, sweeping banknotes that are all over the floor on a narrow Neapolitan side street. A commotion forms behind him as a woman observes from the balcony. The street is filled with washing lines of clothing. The film is presented by Cocinor, a French production company and film distributer. Condition: Acceptable condition, folds, small paper loss and tear at the top left edge. Country of printing: France, designer: Eduardo de Filippo, size (cm): 158 x 115, year of printing: 1950.
