A George V silver and enamel vesta case, by John William Kirwan, Birmingham, 1910, rounded rectangular, decorated with the `Sedbergh` Public School crest and motto, engraved initials `J.A.C.T.` to revers, dated November, 30th, 1911., 2in. (5cms). NB: J.A.C.T. are the initials of John Alexander Chisholm Taylor, son of T. Taylor, Oldham, born November, 3rd, 1890, left July, 1909. Great War-Major Manchester Regiment: Egypt, 1914; Gallipoli, 1915; France, 1917-1918; Despatches, 1918; DSO, 1918; MC, 1918; MC, 1918; Bar, 1919.
