Japan, Meiji period, circa 1900, possibly by Chikueido Eishin
The cylindrical body pot-shaped with high, slightly curved sides, terminating in a raised neck on which a separate, dome-shaped lid, openwork in bamboo imitation. The body and lid patinated red-brown, the double hinged lid of bronzed yellow brass, wound with blackened leather. With matching hinoki wooden case with lid.
