Italian school of the 18th-19th century. Following models by MICHELE MARIESCHI (Venice, 1710 - 1743).

The artist was initially trained by his grandfather Antonio Meneghini, painter-decorator and theatre scenographer, but his real master was Gaspare Diziani, from Belluno, an artist active as a scenographer at that time. His first recorded activity dates from 1731 and is the preparation for the impresario Francesco Tasso of the scenography for the celebration of the Venetian Carnival in the square. Influenced by Marco Ricci and Luca Carlevaris, Marieschi then began to devote himself to the creation of "capricci" and "vedute". Marieschi's unmistakable Venetian landscapes are a combination of classical elements and medieval ruins, creating a romantic and picturesque whole. The artist began to paint landscapes inspired by Canaletto's success in the same genre. In the last years of his life Michele Marieschi's activity focused primarily on engravings, which became a means of making his skills as a landscape painter known to the various collectors of the day.
