Julia Romano's works transport us to idyllic, almost dreamlike landscapes in which logic has no place.
Her digital works present landscape scenes subtracted from the past to give life to new spaces in which the notion of representation is questioned, creating synergies between European and Latin American conceptions, underlining the possibility of constructing one's own scenario.
For Romano, the landscape is transformed according to our experience of it. It is a cultural container that registers, in the multiplicity of the elements that compose it, a history of the world.
The landscape is a superposition of moments that collaborate in the construction of an exhaustive history of that place. Furthermore, he argues that what is most exciting about these hybrid spaces between the natural and the artificial is the recognition that there is no single vision, but rather a succession of layers composed of the unique testimony and experience of each person who inhabits it. Her works have also been taken to the field of installation, where she recreates part of her gardens through videos, photographs, objects, texts and sounds.
The Argentinean artist has participated in numerous exhibitions, salons and fairs at national level in Buenos Aires, Catamarca, Córdoba, La Rioja, Neuquén, Salta, San Juan, Santa Fe and Tucumán; and internationally in Africa, Brazil, Belgium, Colombia, Chile, China, Spain, United States, France, India, England, Italy and Peru. His work is part of important public and private collections in Argentina and abroad.
His work is sponsored by the Basu Foundation for the Arts based in Cacuta, India.
