"Christ and the Sinner".

Measurements: 48,5 x 65 cm; 64 x 82 cm (frame).
The thematic characteristics of the scene invite us to think that we are in front of the biblical passage narrated by Luke (7.36.50), in which he tells the encounter of Jesus with a prostitute. In the words of the Bible: "36. One of the Pharisees asked him to eat with him; and he went into the Pharisee's house and sat down at the table. 37. And, behold, there was a woman in the city who was a sinner, and when she heard that Jesus was sitting at table in the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster box of ointment; 38. And she stood behind Him at His feet, weeping, and began to water His feet with tears, and wiping them with the hair of her head, she kissed His feet and anointed them with the ointment. 39. But when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, "If this man were a prophet, he would know who and what manner of woman it is that is touching him, that she is a sinner. 40. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Simon, I have something to say unto thee: and he said, Say, Master. 41. A certain moneylender had two debtors; one owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty; 42. and when they had nothing to pay, he forgave them both freely. Which of them then will love him more? 43. Simon answered and said, I suppose the one to whom he forgave more. And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast judged aright.44. And turning to the woman, he said to Simon, Seest thou this woman? I came into your house and you gave me no water for my feet, but she has watered my feet with her tears and dried them with her hair.45. You gave me no kiss, but she, since I came in, has not ceased to kiss my feet.46. You did not anoint my head with oil, but she anointed my feet with ointment.47.Therefore I tell you that her sins, which are many, are forgiven, because she loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little. 48. And to her he said, "Your sins are forgiven. 49. And they that sat at meat with him began to say among themselves, Who is this that even forgiveth sins? 50. But Jesus said unto the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
