George Wells was born in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Wells, of 31 Stroud Road, Gloucester. He served during the Great War with the 1st Battalion, Coldstream Guards on the Western Front from 13 August 1914. Lance Corporal Wells was killed in action on the Western Front, 16 September 1916. On the latter date the Battalion was engaged on the Somme:
‘Attack towards Lesboeufs (15/9) - assembled south-east of Ginchy-Lesboeufs Road. On left of Brigade advanced in line with 2nd Coldstream to left and 3rd to the left of 2nd (all three Coldstream battalions going forward together). Hard fighting crossing 2 forward lines - the enemy, according to Lieutenant-Colonel Sir John Ross of Bladensburg’s Coldstream history, defending these with great bravery to the last man. Commanding Officer Lieutenant-Colonel Hon. G. V. Baring killed. Relieved and to Citadel Camp (16/9). Casualties - 360.’ (British Battalions on the Somme by R. Westlake refers)
Lance Corporal Wells is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.

Outside of the UK
If the item/s being sent are worth under £1000 in total they are sent using Royal Mail’s Signed For International service. This ensures the item must be signed for when it is delivered.
If the item/s being sent are valued at over £1000 in total they will be sent using FedEx. This service allows next day delivery to customers in many parts of the US and parcels are fully trackable using the FedEx website.
