A George VI and Queen Elizabeth Christmas card, signed "George RI" and "Elizabeth R", with opposing black and white family portrait, together with a letter from Buckingham Palace dated 5 December 1944 inscribed "My dear Crawfie Thank you so much for your truly charming letter. My pride was ... at being allowed to do the first big function with Princess Elizabeth and she could not have done it more beautifully. It was so grand that it was a naval occasion and I dare to hope it may not be the last one for me. You are a dear Crawfie to write as you do and I love you for it. Yours ever BV" (ILLUSTRATED)
