Daniel Barrett of Chatham - an 18th century chinoisserie lacquered longcase clock, having an arch brass dial (w.11.5") with ships automata to the arch and later plaque entitled 'The Britannia', the chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals flanked by cast brass scroll leaf spandrels, enclosing named plate, subsidiary seconds dial, matted centre with date aperture, twin winding holes for an eight day brass four pillar movement striking on a bell, the case with arched panel doors decorated with figure scenes to a boxbase, h.217cm Condition Report / Extra Information Case lacquer work is distressed all over but appears original and untouched. Worst areas of lacquer distress around upper left corner of door. Some worm holes to hood at top and sides (not active). Dial good but with some tarnishing. Hands later black painted, probably replacement. Hour hand loose. Paintwork to ship and background very grubby and with lacquer residue, 'The Britannia' nameplate is applied. Movement and dial appear original to one another, requires light overhaul. Sold with pendulum and brass cased weights.

Full postage rates can be viewed here.

At YOUR liability, we offer a fully tracked postage & packing service for small items within mainland UK and Europe. We use APC Couriers 24 hour tracked and signed for.  Our standard mainland UK charge is £20 for up to 3 lots, and £2 per lot thereafter, regardless of weight (max.30kg).  Some exclusions apply for larger lots such as dinner services, please contact our offices for a quote with regards to larger or bulkier lots.    

If purchasers require insurance then they must arrange this themselves.  Lacy Scott & Knight accept no liability for items which are damaged or lost during postage, and cannot and will not assist in any claims unless insurance cover has been taken out.  Please give clear instructions when settling your account as to your shipping requirements so that we can process full payment and ship within 10 working days.

You can simply add the postage amount to your bank transfer or website payment.

Buyers Premium - 17.5% plus VAT at prevailing rate 

Bids - bid live at the-saleroom.com, telephone or email bids to fineart@lsk.co.uk (include your full contact details, lot number and bid amount). Our minimum acceptable bid is £5. We can arrange telephone bids with notice for lots with a minimum estimate of £300. 

P&P - Most UK parcels can be sent in-house for our flat standard rate of £15 for up to 3 lots and £1 per lot thereafter. For overseas, large or high value lots we recommend MailBoxes (contact details within our T&Cs). If you choose an alternative courier we can pack for £5 per parcel.

BUYER'S PREMIUM All lots purchased are subject to Buyer's Premium at 17.5% (plus VAT at the prevailing rates). Please note that there is no VAT charged on the premium for books.

BIDDING Bids can be made in person, by leaving a commission bid with a member of staff, by telephone, online or via email (remember to include your full address and a telephone number), or live online for selected sales. We also offer live internet bidding via www.the-saleroom.com for all of our sales (surcharge 3%). 

Prospective sale day buyers are required to register at reception. You will be asked to provide your name, address and telephone number to substantiate this with some form of ID i.e. driving license or credit card, then you will be given a bidding number. This numbered bidding system ensures confidentiality.

The minimum bid that we can accept is £5.

COMMISSION BIDS Commission bids can be accepted from potential buyers who are unable to attend the auction. This service allows the Auctioneer to bid on behalf of prospective purchasers up to their maximum bid, allowing for other bids and reserves, if any.

Commission bidding forms are available in the Saleroom or printed in the catalogues.  Alternatively, you can telephone or email the Auction Centre with your bids (remember to include your full address and telephone number). 

*We ALWAYS acknowledge bids - do not assume that your bids have been received unless we have replied to you.   

SELLING RATE Our Auctioneers sell at approximately 120 lots per hour, buyers are advised to make sure that they are in the saleroom at least 20 minutes before a lot is expected to be offered in case the Auctioneer is ahead of schedule.

TELEPHONE BIDDING A limited number of telephone lines are available to those clients who are unable to attend the auction. Arrangements for this service should be made at least 24 hours before the beginning of the sale. We are only able to accept live telephone bidding on those lots expected to realise in excess of £300.

CONDITION REPORTS Specialists are happy to give condition reports on any lot where applicable.  These are sent by email and can be supported by further digital images.  All weights and measures given in the catalogue should be regarded as approximate. 

PAYMENT & CLEARANCE Payment is due immediately after the auction in pounds sterling.  Please note that goods will not be released until payment is made in full. We accept the following methods of payment:

Cash (up to a maximum of £10,000).

Cheque (supported by valid identification) made payable to Lacy Scott & Knight.

Banker's Draft.

PACKING & SHIPPING 

Lacy Scott & Knight offer fully tracked postage & packing service works within mainland UK and ROI (£5 supplement applies) only. The service we use is Special Delivery (max. weight 2kilos) or Parcel Force 24.  All parcels are charged at a standard £15 for up to 3 lots, and £1 per lot thereafter, regardless of weight (max.30kg) or value (max. £2500).  All parcels over 2kg will be only sent by Parcel Force 24, with standard cover of £100. If purchasers require further cover, this is charged as follows; £500 - £4, £1000 - £8, £1500 - £12, £2500 - £20.  Please give clear instructions as to your shipping requirements including level of insurance cover so that we can process full payment and ship within 10 working days.
