The author (1721-1788) was a Cavalry officer in the French Army during the Seven Years' War (1756-1763) where the superiority of the Prussian Cavalry was evident, which is why he decided to publish this treatise, with the aim of reforming and reorganizing the French Cavalry. The volume, very lightly handled, but complete and clean, includes an allegorical title and 11 copperplate prints (eight on double sheets), as well as two large vignettes, one on the front and another at the end (21x17 cm), representing a formation of four battalions.
